Booting from DigiPres Class Drive
The digital preservation class boot drive is an external USB thumb drive containing a full macOS operating system, and software programs used for digital preservation. This drive can be used with any macOS computer with an Intel processor.
There are two ways to boot your computer from the drive:
Option Key Method: Restart your computer. Just after the machine powers down, hold down the “option” key on your keyboard. This will bring up a boot menu allowing you to choose digipres as your boot drive.
Startup Disk Method: Another way to boot from the class boot drive is to change your “Startup disk”. To do this, go to System Preferences > Startup Disk. Click on the lock icon in the lower left hand corner to make changes and enter your password. Choose the digipres drive from the menu and click, “Restart…”
